President Obama and Greek PM Tsipras Have First Encounter at the UN

obama_tsiprasGreek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had a brief encounter with US President Barack Obama during the United Nations General Assembly week.
President Obama approached the Greek Prime Minister during a lunch, hosted by the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on September 28th.
The US President congratulated PM Tsipras on his reelection and told him that they will meet again later in the evening, during the dinner Obama is hosting for the heads of the various attending nations.
Earlier in the day, Tsipras had conversations with other leaders including Cuba’s Raul Castro, Brazil’s Dilma Rousseff and Ecuador’s Rafael Correa.
Obama and Tsipras Converse
According to Greek government sources, Obama and Tsipras had a three minute discussion during the USA President’s dinner later in the evening.
Obama reportedly showed willingness to help Greece in the country’s efforts to implement reforms and restore economic growth. The same sources also claim that the two leaders discussed the refugee crisis as well as the Cyprus problem.
