christos TsiolkasGreek-Australian author Christos Tsiolkas – famous for his book The Slap, which was adapted as a TV series in Australia, as well as in the United States- is a finalist in the Melbourne Prize for Literature 2015 and Awards.

Launched in 2004, the Melbourne Prize Trust recognizes and rewards excellence and talent, inspires creative development and enriches public life. The Trust achieves these aims by running the annual Melbourne Prize, which is funded by a collaboration of partners and patrons.

The Melbourne Prize for Literature 2015 comes with a reward of 60,000 dollars, supported by The Vera Moore Foundation and The Tallis Foundation. “The finalists in this year’s Melbourne Prize for Literature 2015 and Awards are a testament to Victoria’s literary capacity, creativity and our reputation as a vibrant literary centre,” said Simon Warrender, the Trust’s executive director.

The list of Literature Prize 2015 finalists includes authors Steven Carroll, Brenda Niall, Christos Tsiolkas, Chris Wallace-Crabbe and Alexis Wright.

Furthermore, the Trust also provides the Best Writing Award 2015 and the Writers Prize 2015. The winners in each category will be announced on the Trust’s official website (http://www.melbourneprize.org) on 11 November 2015.
