Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem congratulated Alexis Tsipras on his SYRIZA party victory during Greece’s legislative elections on Sunday evening.
“Looking forward to a swift formation of a new government with strong mandates to continue the reform process,” the Dutch finance minister wrote on his Twitter account.
He added that he is ready to work with Greece in its endeavours to carry out the necessary reforms.
Dijsselbloem, who was the head of the Eurogroup that negotiated a third bailout deal with Tsipras’s government, should know soon what this Greek government looks like, as Tsipras has three days to form a new government, beginning Monday.
It is likely that the Eurogroup President will deal with a similar government, given that Tsipras’ former coalition partner and ANEL leader Panos Kammenos received enough votes on Sunday for the two parties to form a coalition government again.
