8,000 Refugees and Migrants to Leave Lesvos by Tuesday Evening

lesvos_migrantsGreek Alternate Migration Minister Giannis Mouzalas had said on Monday morning that the East Aegean Greek island of Lesvos had between 15,000 and 17,000 migrants and refugees.
That number looks to be significantly reduced by late Tuesday evening.
Around 8,000 migrants and refugees are scheduled to leave the island by Tuesday evening, this comes after 2,850 migrants and refugees departed from the port of Mitilini from the port of Piraeus on Monday.
Meanwhile, European Council President Donald Tusk allegedly told Greek newspaper Kathimerini that there are currently intentions to hold an emergency European summit on the refugee and migration crisis. Greek media had reported earlier on Tuesday that the date for a summit would soon be announced.
Former Greek Minister of Migration Police Tasia Christodoulopoulou questioned those who criticize the former SYRIZA-ANEL Greek government for the influx of migrants and refugees to Greece, during an interview with Parapolitika radio station.
Christodoulopoulou stated, “it is a tragic coincidence that from the 27th (August) when we resigned, and within a week, there were record breaking arrivals, 51,000 refugees came, when during our days 12,000 people had come to all the islands”.
