German Chancellor Angela Merkel noted on Monday during a news conference in Berlin that it would not be possible to lower the interest rates for Greece.
“I think when it comes to interest rates, we have no room for manoeuvre because the rates are already very low,” she said.
However, the German Chancellor left a small window of hope open for Greeks when she added that the Eurozone partners would consider pushing back the “grace period,” so that Greece has more time before it starts paying back creditors.
Furthermore, she added that she expects Greece to continue complying with its obligations to creditors after the upcoming elections.
