Tsipras' Former Party Fellows Criticize His First Campaign Interview

lafazanis_tsiprasPopular Unity chief Panagiotis Lafazanis and former House speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou criticized departing Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras after the broadcast of his first election campaign interview.
Lafazanis issued a written statement in which he accuses Tsipras of “committing to implement the old memoranda [reforms], along with the new, which will put the final tombstone on society and the Greek economy.”
The former energy minister further criticized Tsipras for acting contrary to the program SYRIZA had promised before the January elections. Instead of cancelling the memoranda, Tsipras acted against the will of the Greek people and his SYRIZA comrades and signed another austerity memorandum.
The statement further says that Tsipras is blackmailing the Greek people using a monetary dilemma, but “the Greek people, once again, will not succumb to blackmailing dilemmas and in the elections they will honor the decision the majority made by saying NO in the July 5th referendum.”
While in the House for the last session of a parliamentary committee on the Greek debt, the departing House speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou commented sarcastically: “People who refuse to appear in parliament prefer to go to television channels to announce that they will not fulfill their commitments.”
