Ferry to Transfer 3,000 Refugees to Thessaloniki

The ferry “Eleftherios Venizelos” is already in the port of Kos since August 13 and on board there are already 1,800-2,000 refugees accommodated there. Originally, the destination was the Piraeus Port in order for the refugees to be processed in Athens.
Now Greek immigration authorities have decided to transfer 3,000 refugees to Thessaloniki. “Eleftherios Venizelos” sailed on Wednesday morning with destination northern Greece, including stops on the islands of Kalymnos and Leros.
The boat will pick up about 1,000 refugees from the two islands. Analysts say that immigration authorities consider to channel the 3,000 refugees to Europe through FYROM.
