Greek Citizen Protection Ministry Dissatisfied Over Retirement of Uniformed Officials

panousis1--2-thumb-largeGreece’s Citizen Protection Ministry expressed its dissatisfaction regarding the submission of a new amendment on the retirement of military and security force officials.
The Ministry statement spoke of a sudden amendment submission, stressing that this action radically opposes the Ministry’s political leadership.
This amendment changes the provisions of Law 3865/2010 regarding the state pension system reform, so that the new method of calculating one’s pension applies to everyone (including the Armed Forces, Police and Fire Department staff) having left or leaving the force after January 1, 2015.
It also states that Armed Forces, Greek Police and Fire Department members who leave the service the day after the law’s publication date, are only entitled to receive pension if they have completed their 58th year of age and 40 years of pensionable service.
