Greek TV Channel's News Not Airing After 26 Years

ANT1 NEWSThe recent sweeping wave of layoffs in Greece, associated with the country’s disastrous recession, has led to rapid developments in ANT1 Group, one of the largest Greek media companies.
ANT1 employees conducted a work stoppage on Friday, July 31, and gathered outside the channel’s studios in Spata, outside Athens, in order to protest against the layoff of around 50 of their colleagues.
The great number of layoffs in the Greek media company enhanced relevant scenarios that ANT1 wishes to submit a specific proposal in an effort to adapt to a new entertainment style that will not require as many employees.
The ANT1 news broadcast, which had been steadily at the top, will not be aired until Sunday night.
According to Greek media, all workers who would like to remain in their positions may face a generous wage cut of up to 30%.
