New Democracy Raises Questions Following Greek PM's Plan B Comments

New DemocracyGreek main opposition New Democracy was not satisfied with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ responses to questions about former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis’ Plan B for the Greek economy.
Earlier on Friday, Tsipras admitted he had asked Varoufakis to look into alternative solutions in case of an emergency situation.
New Democracy found Tsipras’ answers to be too vague and said they are even more worried than they were prior to his comments.
“What exactly did Mr Tsipras give an order for? At the beginning he told us he had authorized to determine the repercussions of a Grexit,” the party said and added “Now he is saying something else. That he gave the order to draft a Plan B in the case of an emergency.”
The party wants to know exactly what the Plan B was, if it included IOU’s, a parallel banking system and the seizure of Greece’s treasury. They further asked if all this process was within the limits of the prescribed institutional frameworks and why were people who have no relation to the Greek government involved in this plan.
New Democracy also rejected Tsipras’ claim that the government was working on alternative plans under the threat of a Grexit.
“When there is fear of being pushed out of the euro, you try to foil this, not bring it closer,” the party said.
