Greek Students to Compete in Final Round of Microsoft 'Imagine Cup' Competition

Innovation TeamA team of passionate Greek students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, led by professor Leontios Hadjileontiadis, is considered to be one of the 12 best student innovation teams in the world.
On the occasion of the international Microsoft “Imagine Cup” competition, the Aristotle University students, following their mentor’s directions, presented “Prognosis,” a new approach to the early Parkinson’s Disease detection and intervention, that introduces new ways of care services and health self-managing tools.
The “Imagine Cup” competition, which will be held in Seattle, Washington, from July 27 to July 3, is a global student technology program that highlights creativity through technological solutions aimed at addressing the world’s biggest problems.
Approximately 330,000 students from universities across the globe are enrolled in this year’s event. The Greek team, consisting of Despina-Anastasia Efthymiadou, Dimitrios Iakovakis, Konstantinos Mavrodis and Vasiliki Bikia, will compete for one of the three main awards, as it was one of the 12 teams that were finally selected by an international jury.
