New Democracy Leader: 'Bring a Deal by Sunday so that Greece Can Stay in the Euro'

meimarakisGreek main opposition New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis told parliament during the debate on the draft bill for the “Negotiation and Achievement of a Loan Agreement with the European Stability Mechanism (ESM)” that the Greek government has to bring a deal with the country’s creditors by Sunday.
“We want you to bring an agreement by Sunday so that Greece can stay in the euro. We want to authorize you so that you will have the flexibility to negotiate,” Meimarakis told MPs in a session that started in the early hours on Saturday.
Greece’s main opposition leader said that the negotiation is the responsibility of the government and that New Democracy is supporting a deal that will have “your signatures and the creditors’.”
However, Meimarakis also said he hoped that if creditors ask the Greek government for another concession during negotiations, Tsipras will not use it as an excuse to say “I cannot accept anything more” and thus frame the parliament. “I hope I will be disproved,” he said.
