Flights From UK to Greece Increased by 16% in a Week

Tourism

Although Greece has dived into unparalleled uncertainty after its citizens overwhelmingly rejected the international creditors’ proposed bailout package in a referendum on Sunday, British holidaymakers’ interest has grown as the country has now become a cheaper option for their summer holidays.

Several tourism firms took the initiative to reduce their prices by as much as 50% on trips to Greek islands, alluring British people and leading to a 16% increase in flights from Britain to Greece, compared to last week metrics.

According to travel website Skyscanner, online searches for flights from the United Kingdom to Greece have soared by approximately 12%, taking into account the same period last year.

Despite the fact that debit and credit cards are still being accepted in most Greek shops and restaurants, travel agents and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office are urging British tourists to make sure to issue a travel insurance and supply themselves with enough cash in order to be able to cover all their expenses during their holidays.

They also reassured customers that there is no possibility of holidays being disrupted for any reason so there is no need to book a different destination, despite the recent developments in Greece.
