Germans Blame Greeks for the Crisis, yet Feel Sorry for Them

german-surveyOne in two Germans feel sympathetic towards the Greek people, however, they believe that the country is responsible for its current financial situation, according to a survey published in the German newspaper Bild.
The survey was published on the newspaper’s website and it reveals that 78% of Germans feel bad for the Greek people, because of the trouble that the financial crisis has brought.
Moreover, one in two respondents considers that the country itself caused the Greek default, while 42% of German believe that the blame falls on both sides. Furthermore, 56% of the people in Germany think that Greece’s possible exit from the European monetary union would not affect Germany, while 32% think that their country would suffer in such a case.
