Ariane Labed Cast in ‘Assassin’s Creed’, Rising Fast in Hollywood

Ariane Labed

Though a relative newcomer to Hollywood Ariane Labed has been rising fast through the Hollywood ranks, and her latest casting in “Assassin’s Creed” is another major step up the ladder for the Greek-born actress.

Labed previously stunned critics and audiences at Cannes with her performance in “The Lobster”, directed by her husband Yorgos Lanthimos.

The Greek-French actress has a diverse and interesting resume, peppered with indie hits like “Attenberg”, her first major appearance on film, as well as bigger pictures such as “Before Midnight”, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

It is unclear yet what role Labed will play in the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” film, though we know she will play quite an important part opposite co-stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. The film is an live-action adaptation of the famous video game series by Ubisoft.

“Assassin’s Creed” will begin filming in fall of this year, and a release date is set for late December in 2016.

Labed is getting more and more recognition for her work since winning the Best Actress award in Venice in 2010 for her role in “Attenberg”, and her personal and professional partnership with rising independent filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos could lead to a new power couple in both the European and US film markets.

These two Greek-born players in Hollywood are definitely a couple to keep your eye on.
