Beijing Hopes Greece Will Soon Exit the Crisis

beijingThe Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang noted that he has not been informed on whether his country would provide assistance to Greece, while he expressed the hope that Greece can overcome its debt crisis soon.
According to Reuters, Lu Kang said that his country has noted the close communication among the relevant parties surrounding the debt crisis in Greece. “From China’s standpoint, we hope Greece will get out of the crisis soon so as to enable the stable development of the EU integration process,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will travel to Europe over the next week to participate in the EU-China summit in Brussels and to visit France. According to Lu, the premier will have an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual interest with the European leaders.
When asked about whether China would provide emergency financial aid to Greece or if the country would buy assets in Greece in case of bankruptcy, Lu said he did not have any relevant information.
Last year, China signaled it would buy bonds when Greece issues debt again, in a show of support for a financially-stricken nation that hopes to become a gateway into Europe for Chinese products, noted Reuters.
