Crete Shaken by Two Consecutive Earthquakes

Earthquake Crete
Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.2 and 4.4 on the Richter scale shook the maritime area between Kasos and Crete on Thursday afternoon.
The earthquakes were mainly felt in Palaikastro, situated about 19 kilometers away from SitiaZakros on the eastern coast of Crete and on the east coast of theLassithi Prefecture.
The Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens reported the first quake, measuring 4.2 Richter magnitude recorded struck at 3:56 pm local time. The epicenter was located 47 kilometers south-southeast of Kasos.
The second quake of 4.4 on the Richter scale occurred at 3:59 pm local time and its epicenter was located in the maritime area 47 kilometers south-southwest of Kasos and 56 kilometers southeast of Palaikastro.
