Everything has a limit,” noted the simple statement issued by the former Prime Minister’s office.
According to Greek tabloid Espresso, Ada Papandreou left the house that the couple shared on Monday evening and is now staying in a downtown Athens apartment. Furthermore, the tabloid claimed that the couple had been having marital problems for a long time, since they were arguing a lot, according to people from their inner circle.
It was also rumored that George Papandreou’s mother, Margarita Papandreou, played a significant role in the divorce since she never believed that Ada could bear a surname with such history.
George and Ada Papandreou met in the mid-1980s in Rio, Greece, during a PASOK executives’ event. They met and almost instantly fell in love. The got married in 1989 in Kalentzi, western Greece.
