As part of Deputy Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura’s efforts to increase tourist flow from China, the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) recently participated in the international tourism fair GITF in China’s Guangzhou, one of the most influential B2B fairs that attracts wide attention among the tourism industry.
During the fair, GNTO’s secretary general Panos Livadas met with major Chinese tour operators in South China, like CTS and CGZL, and discussed further cooperation prospects.
Moreover, the GNTO office in China organized a special event presenting the advantages of Greek destinations, which was attended by more than 20 local tour operators.
Kountoura’s initiatives since she assumed office have already started to yield the first positive results: following last year’s launch of a direct flight connection between Shanghai and Athens, two more services will follow in 2015, connecting the Greek capital with Shanghai and Beijing.
According to preliminary figures for 2015, tourist arrivals from China are expected to increase compared with 2013 and 2014.
