Greek Comedians Steal the Show on ‘SNL 40’

Saturday Night Live aired a special show for its 40th anniversary yesterday, February 16, and the sketch show brought out a number of hilarious performers from its 40-year run. Featured among the performers were Greek-American comedians Tina Fey and Zach Galifianakis.

Galifianakis was one of the evening’s presenters at 30 Rockefeller Center and he donned a hilarious Sia wig while introducing Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler’s new SNL short.

Fey reprised her role on “Weekend Update,” the long-running SNL news parody, along with her usual comedy teammate Amy Poehler.

The show aired on NBC and proved to be very popular, drawing the strongest ratings for a single show in the network since 2006.

In addition to celebrating the 40-year anniversary of SNL, which helped many now-famous comedians get their start, the show was perhaps also intended to boost ratings a little in a season that has widely been considered below average.

Perhaps yesterday’s reunion, along with excellent sketches by performers past and present, including Fey and Galifianakis, will provide the needed boost.
