German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble generated his own “tongue-in-cheek” moment on Wednesday, telling reporters that the “Troika will continue implementing the Greek program, which we obviously won’t be able to call Troika anymore.”
The quip emanates from the new Greek government’s refusal to cooperate with a team of inspectors assigned by its international creditors to monitor the country’s bailout program.
The powerful German Minister also said the program should be completed, while asked about the pending Eurogroup meeting on Wednesday evening, he said: “It all depends on Mr. Yanis Varoufakis and what he brings to the table.”
