Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis appeared confident that a deal between Greece and Europe regarding the country’s bailout program will soon be reached. Talking to British Channel 4’s economics editor Paul Mason, after a London meeting with British Chancellor of the Exchequer and Second Lord of the Treasury George Osborne, earlier today, Varoufakis highlighted that Greece and Britain – even though the latter is not among the 19 Eurozone member-states – are both determined to put an end to the “extended pretence cycle that has rendered Greece a festering wound on the side of the Eurozone.”

At the same interview, the Greek Finance Minister stressed that his “feeling leaving 11 Downing Street was that we have a very constructive relationship. We had a wonderful meeting and, despite our differences, we are highly tuned to finding common ground. I think we have already found it.”

Varoufakis is currently on tour around the European capitals in an attempt to win support for the SYRIZA-led Greek government’s attempt to renegotiate the terms of the country’s 240-billion-euro bailout program.
