A Turkish F-16 fighter jet appeared in the skies near the Greek islet of Imia on Friday as new Defense Minister Panos Kammenos was aboard a helicopter to lay a wreath in memory of three Greek Navy aviators killed during the 1996 Imia crisis when their chopper crashed in the vicinity.
However, there was no violation of Greek airspace, reports stated.
A NH-90 helicopter carrying Kammenos over Imia maneuvered over the islet’s shore to allow the Ministry delegation lay a wreath.
