‘The Heroes Project’: Hyperion’s Inspirational Production

Heroes Project

Michael Mailis, the CEO of Hyperion Media Group who backed critical successes such as “Act of Valor” and “Waiting for Lightning”, has now set his sights on an inspiring documentary – “The Heroes Project.”

“The Heroes Project” follows seven wounded veterans who are either single or double amputees, as they attempt to overcome their disabilities and climb the Seven Summits, the tallest mountains in each continent.

Of the Seven Summits, six mountains have already been tackled by the climbers; these include Mt. Denali (USA), Mt. Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Mt. Elbrus (Russia), Mt. Vinson (Antarctica), Mt. Kosciuszko (Australia) and Mt. Aconcagua (Argentina).

Hyperion Media Group and the backers of “The Heroes Project” are seeking further funding to complete the seventh and final phase of the project, and send the seventh veteran, Charlie, to climb Mt. Everest. Charlie’s 2014 climb had to be aborted due to the tragic avalanche that killed 16 Nepalese guides.

This documentary will help tell the story of the great work the Heroes Project Foundation has been doing since 2009. Tim Medvetz, an adventurer and extreme sports athlete, started the foundation in order to help wounded veterans recover and find renewed inspiration in their lives through mountain climbing. He is now working as a producer on the film, alongside a talented team of Hollywood creatives.

Academy and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Freida Lee Mock is directing the project. Ben Freedman, whose previous documentaries have been honored at the Sundance Film Festival, is also working as a producer on the film.

Everyone working on creating and producing “The Heroes Project” has come together for the same goal – to show the strength and courage of these extraordinary veterans.
