Jim Gianopulos, the Greek-American CEO and Chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, will be honored at this year’s CinemaCon with a prestigious “Pioneer of the Year” award.

Under Gianopulos’ stewardship, Fox has experienced the most profitable quarters in its entire history; an impressive achievement considering that most studios are teetering on a financial edge, due to the rapidly changing status quo of the film industry today.

Fox’s success over the last couple of decades has been a result of both blockbuster commercial successes, such as the “Taken” series, “Avatar” and “The Day After Tomorrow,” as well as critically acclaimed artistic films such as “Gone Girl,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Life of Pi.”

In addition to a long roster of film successes, Gianopulos is one of the longest-tenured studio chairmen in the film industry. The “Pioneer of the Year” award is a great honor for him, especially in light of the fact that past recipients have included prestigious, historic names in Hollywood, such as Cecil B. DeMille, Jack Warner, Alan Horn and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

The convention will be held in Las Vegas on April 22, 2015. CinemaCon is an annual event that brings together movie theater owners from across the globe, as well as filmmakers, producers and other high-profile Hollywood names, in order to share the latest advances in cinematic technology and the state of the industry.
