Greece Recorded Third Highest GDP Growth in EU in Third Quarter of 2014

greece-gdp-contractsThe Eurozone economy showed marginal growth in the third quarter of 2014, with GDP showing an increase of 0.2% in the third quarter, compared to the previous, according to revised figures released today by the European Statistical office, Eurostat.
In the European Union (EU 28), GDP showed a rise of 0.3% from the previous quarter. The latest figures confirmed Eurostat’s previous estimates.
It is reminded that in the second quarter of 2014, GDP grew by 0.1% in the Eurozone and 0.2% in the European Union. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 0.8% in the Eurozone and 1.3% in the European Union.
Among the member states for which data are available, Romania (1.8%), Poland (0.9%), Greece , Slovenia and the United Kingdom (0.7%) recorded the highest growth compared to the previous quarter. Contraction was recorded in Cyprus (-0.4%), Austria (-0.3%) and Italy (-0.1%).
eu_gdp_3rd_quarter_2014According to the same Eurostat data, the final household consumption expenditure increased by 0.5% in the Eurozone and 0.6% in the European Union (following an increase of 0.3% and 0.4% respectively in the previous quarter). Gross fixed capital formation fell by 0.3% in the Eurozone and increased 0.5% in the European Union (down 1.2% and 0.6% respectively in the previous quarter).
Exports increased by 0.8% in the Eurozone and 0.6% in the European Union (1.4% and 1.0% in the previous quarter). Imports increased by 1.2% in the Eurozone and 1.1% in the European Union (after an increase of 1.3% and 1.0% respectively).
