In a massive ongoing operation for three days now, Greek Police are trying to locate and arrest the man who opened fire at a nightclub in Piraeus, Greece , on Saturday, injuring more than 10 people. The gunman has been identified as an Albanian national, although he is registered in police records with two names: Armben Glodian and Albert Bako. According to the investigating officers, he was born in 1983 in Albania and is extremely dangerous.
Despite the fact that his photo has not yet officially been published, a number of Greek newspapers and websites have already done so. Because of the serious nature of the offense, Public Order Minister Vasilis Kikilias and Justice Minister Charalambos Athanasiou are currently trying to pass a new amendment regarding the composition of perpetrators’ personal details and photos in order to collect useful information that could lead police to their whereabouts. The District Attorney of Piraeus ordered his photo not to be published by police earlier than Wednesday.
According to Greek media, the Albanian gunman is no stranger to crime and has been involved in three similar bloody assaults in bars and nightclubs (in downtown Athens), including one in Metaxourgeio where he killed a 43-year-old man and injured a female Albanian bar employee. The 30-year-old criminal has allegedly also been involved in other criminal acts, in various Greek cities.
In addition, a new video from surrounding security cameras has been released, showing the gunman slowly and calmly approaching the nightclub before the attack and then fleeing the crime scene.
