New Poll Shows SYRIZA Leading by 11.5%

kalpesA new opinion poll shows SYRIZA leading with an impressive 11.5 percent over New Democracy.
The intention to vote poll was conducted by Public Issue research agency for Efimerida ton Synatkton daily. According to the results, SYRIZA gets 38.5 percent of the vote if elections were to be held tomorrow. This is more than the 35.5 percent SYRIZA got from the poll conducted one month ago by the same agency.
New Democracy, on the other hand, remained at 27 percent, the same position it held the previous month. New party To Potami (The River) was at 8.5 percent, as opposed to 10.5 percent the month before, The Greek Communist Party (KKE) holds up at 6.5 percent, Golden Dawn at 6 percent, same as the previous month, PASOK at 5 percent (6 percent prior), Independent Greeks at 3 percent both months, Democratic Left at an unchanged 1 percent, and other small parties were at 4.5 percent.
Even though New Democracy was not very popular in the particular poll, 42 percent of participants said that Premier Antonis Samaras is “most suitable for prime minister,” whereas only 29 percent believe that SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras would make a good prime minister. The remaining 29 percent don’t trust either man to lead the country.
In the question of democracy, 74 percent of the participants say that Greece is not very democratic the way it is governed. Seventeen percent of the participants say that they are satisfied with democratic institutions.
Also, on the issues of the recession and economic recovery, 77 percent of Greeks believe that the economic crisis has not ended, while 22 percent believe that the economy has recovered.
Two other polls conducted in the same period by MRB and Metron Analysis, show SYRIZA at 23.9 and 23.3 respectively. New Democracy is at 19.6 and 18.6 percent respectively.
