Hellenic Post (ELTA) announced on Tuesday the issuing of a collectible stamps edition to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Domenicus Theotokopoulos, the master painter of the Spanish Renaissance who was also known as ‘El Greco.’
The El Greco stamps and various associated products will be on sale at post offices starting Wednesday, depicting details from El Greco’s painting “The Burial of Christ” – a painting acquired by the National Gallery of Athens.
All products will be available at the central philatelic shop in Athens and other post offices while stock lasts, except the first-day circulation envelopes, which will be withdrawn on September 9, 2015.
