Greek Betting Firm Damaged by Retroactive Taxes

opapGreek Organization of Football Prognostics OPAP, the country’s official betting firm, announced on Monday that during the second quarter of the year it would suffer damages of 21.6 million euros (28.5 million dollars) because of retroactive taxes.
OPAP said that the tax which is in force since 2010, may be reduced as it has already appealed to the Finance Ministry.
OPAP will release its results on Wednesday, August 27. It is estimated that the company will post a double-digit percentage increase in second-quarter profit, boosted by the World Soccer Cup and the launch of a new scratch card game.
