Greek Government Meets on Major Economic Issues

xardouvelisThe multi-bill covering the prior actions required for the disbursement of the second sub-tranche and the budget of next year were discussed on Friday by Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos in the presence of the coalition government’s economic team.
The meeting started at 12.00 pm and lasted about two and a half hours. Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis said that the Greek government has examined the prior actions required for the disbursement of the next installment and they are negotiating with the Troika of Greece’s international lenders.
Concerning the multi-bill, the Finance Minister did not give a clear answer whether it will be filed on Monday or not. “We’ll see,” he said.
The bill will contain all the prior actions that Greece needs to implement in order to receive the next bailout loan installment of 1 billion euros, along with the 1.8 billion euros of Eurozone bank profits deriving from Greek bonds. The bill, which the government has agreed to pass by August 8, will also pave the way for the next review by the Troika.
