Tourists at AcropolisThousands of visitors to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece will be able to have medical assistance during their tour at the Greek monument as of Thursday.
Greek Minister of Culture and Sport Kostas Tasoulas asked Health Minister Makis Voridis to appoint a generalist to the Acropolis. While the demand is being processed, Defense Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos responded immediately to the request and ordered the immediate dispatch of a medical private to the ancient monument.
Greek tourism is expected to reach record highs this year, as about 19 million (or 21,2 million including cruise visitors) will arrive to Greece. The Acropolis, being one of the most important ancient monuments in the world, is attracting millions of tourists every year. The appointment of a doctor in the site, which will help visitors in case of emergency, will promote the country’s image abroad.
