Greek e-Shops Meet International Standards

laptopAccording to the annual study of E-Business Research Center (ELTRUN) for 2013, significant improvements in Greek online shopping sites have been reported in Greece, compared to 2012.
In fact, out of approximately 5,000 Greek e-shops, two-thirds offer reliable services and safe exchanges. Online businesses operating in Greece have improved this year in the sectors of terms of use, security and protection of personal data, returns policies and on how much they use social media for their promotion.
ELTRUN showed, however, that Greek e-shops need to build a stronger bond of trust with consumers, while the percentage of Greek consumers that shop online is still low (35%), since most customers are still hesitant to make electronic purchases.
The results of the study also showed that 10% of online stores do not meet the appropriate requirements. Ten Greek e-shops in particular don’t provide any information, such as an address or telephone number of their business and this is a reason why consumers usually avoid them.
In conclusion, 58% of Greek online stores meet international quality standards in the sectors of layout and providing a user-friendly site.  An improvement has also been recorded in the sectors of delivery services and more flexible return policies.
