Greek Cyber Crime Police Unit has found evidence on men who paid a foreign site to allow them to watch young children being abused and tortured. Greek police in co-operation with Interpol have tracked down all personal data concerning five of the six people involved in the case.
The authorities investigated the suspects’ houses in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Agrinio. They discovered that two of them were police officers, serving the National Security and Athens Traffic Control Department respectively. Both officers were put on suspension.
Although five out of six people involved in the case were tracked, one is still unidentified since he used a company computer. The company’s registered offices and data remain unknown.
According to data released on the case, the offenders paid large sums of money to watch young children being abused on a live broadcast. The abused children came from the Far East. However, Interpol is investigating the possibility that similar rings are active in Europe as well.
