Greece Draws 0-0 With Portugal in WCup Warm-Up

Greece_PortugalWorld Cup finalists Portugal and Greece played out a 0-0 draw in a largely uneventful friendly in Lisbon.
UEFA Champions League winner Cristiano Ronaldo was rested due to a slight thigh problem, and Portugal also left out Pepe and Raul Meireles.
Portugal had a couple of early opportunities as Eder headed Nani’s corner straight at Orestis Karnezis from close range and the Greece goalkeeper also kept out Ricardo Costa’s effort.
The muted game at the National Stadium in Lisbon did little to brighten the hopes of the two European teams ahead of the tournament in Brazil that begins June 12.
Greece struggled to create chances and a long-range strike from Vassilis Torosidis was the sum of their efforts in a poor first half.
Greece threatened in the final 10 minutes after the introduction of winger Giannis Fetfatzidis whose direct running put the hosts on the back foot.
“In the first half, we clearly deserved to be ahead and, apart from the last few minutes when we were worn out, we always had control of the game,” Portugal coach Paulo Bento told RTP television. “We were penalised by our lack of efficiency.
“We have to be prepared. We have to be able to play without players who are our first choices.”
Portugal will start the World Cup in Group G with Germany, Ghana and the United States. Greece is in Group C with Colombia, Japan and Ivory Coast.
