New Poll Shows SYRIZA Leading by 2.5%

elections-for-Greek-municipalitiesA new opinion poll on voting intentions for European Parliament elections, conducted by Pulse for the newspaper To Pontiki, shows SYRIZA ahead of New Democracy by 2.5%.
According to the poll, Greece’s leftist opposition party SYRIZA stands at 25% with conservative New Democracy at 22.5%. Ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn comes third with 8.5%, followed by The River (To Potami) and the Olive Tree (Elia) alliance, both with 7%. The Communist Party (KKE) stands at 6%, Independent Greeks at 4% and Democratic Left at 2.5%.
The poll showed that 6% of the voters are undecided, while 3.5% stated that they would cast a blank ballot.
The European Parliament elections will be held on Sunday, May 25 on the same day as the second round of the Greek municipal and regional elections.
The first round of elections in May 18 didn’t designate a clear winner in many areas. In general, SYRIZA gained high rates in Athens and the Attica region, while New Democracy fared better in smaller cities and towns around the country.Voter abstention in the first round of elections reached 38.4% of the electoral body.
