‘The Burning Light’ of Australia

the burning lightThe Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales in collaboration with the Sydney Greek Festival, the Greek Community of Melbourne and Antipodes Festival will present a Greek play by Kostas Varnalis, entitled “The Burning Light” to the Greek Diaspora of Australia. The play has been adapted and directed by Vasilis Kolovos.

The play’s main protagonists are Jesus Christ and Prometheus, two symbolic personalities of Greek history and mythology. The play is essentially a social commentary on the subject of power.

The performances in Sydney will take place on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 at the Factory Theatre. Furthermore, the play will also be presented in Melbourne on Saturday, July 5 at Athenaeum Theatre.

Vassilis Kolovos is well known among the Greek Diaspora of Australia due to his previous visits and appearances at the Greek Festival of Sydney.
