Austrian Die Presse Praises Greek Cyclades

santorini-3The Austrian newspaper “Die Presse” published a five-page tribute to the Greek islands of Santorini, Milos, Naxos and Paros entitled “Cyclades, Volcanic Worlds.”

The author of the article presents the beauty of the islands along with useful information about the access, accommodation, attractions and entertainment on each island.

The tribute begins from Santorini with the author describing the island’s volcanic morphology, the traditional cubic white houses, its popular tourism sites and the renowned red and black beaches. It is also highlighted that before mass tourism, Santorini was a typical Cycladic island with traditional windmills and vineyards.

When it comes to Milos, the author refers to the story of the discovery of the Aphrodite of Milos statue by a local in 1820. The original statue is currently located in the Louvre in Paris and a copy of can be found in the Archaeological Museum of Milos. Tourists can visit the catacombs from the early Christian period and a Roman theater, as well as the unique rock formations resembling lunar landscape. There are also many guided tours to the local sulfur mines and countless beaches to discover and enjoy.

As for Naxos, the journalist showcases its crystal-clear, blue beaches, the village of Agios Prokopios , the gate of the Apollo temple and its history, the old town of Naxos and Apiranthos, the village of artists, and the many and different cultivations throughout the island.

Last but not least, Paros has achieved fame because of its sandy beaches and coves. Apart from the capital Parikia, visitors also prefer the village of Naoussa with its many restaurants, cafeterias and bars, as well as the village of Lefkes.
