Tension during Georgiadis’ Speech in London (video)

georgiadis-660_0A group of Greek students booed the Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, during his speech at the Imperial College of London. As a result the event was temporarily interrupted. As soon as the minister started speaking, the group of students welcomed him with boos and slogans, both in English and in Greek.

The students protested about the health care system in Greece and the policies of the Greek Minister. Moreover, they accused Georgiadis of speaking about the situation in Venezuela and Argentina without being aware of what is really happening in these countries. The protesters read out a statement where they openly accused him of having caused the collapse of the national health system. After their intervention the event continued as scheduled.

Georgiadis commenting on the incident stated, “Despite the desperate efforts of the far-left group, they didn’t manage to cancel my speech,” adding that he is not afraid of “some communists” from London, who criticize capitalism and the Memorandum. The Minister claimed that his speech was crowned with success and announced that he is planning a new speech at the Imperial College.
