‘The Hellenic Initiative’ Comes to Australia

Andrew Liveris“The Hellenic Initiative,” the organization created in the U.S. by Greek-Australian entrepreneur Andrew Liveris and four other businessmen to support Greece and strengthen its global reputation, is to be expanded to Australia.

The official introductory ceremony of the initiative to the Australian market will be held on March 26 in Sydney. Mr. Liveris, the Chairman and CEO of Dow Chemical, is expected to make the opening statements.

The initiative is promoted under the auspices of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, and several distinguished Greek-Americans will also take part. Organizers are hoping that the initiative will enjoy the same acceptance in Australia and have invited some of the country’s leading Greek-Australians to the official presentation, which will be hosted by Helen Kapalos.

The Hellenic Initiative” is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organization, whose vision aims, through the generosity of the Greek Diaspora and the Philhellenic community, to provide substantial encouragement and financial support to help preserve organizations and projects, while also inspiring business growth that will allow Greek people to ensure the long-term prosperity of Greece. The organization encourages the promotion of the necessary structural reforms and private capital investments, which will help to upgrade Greece’s competitiveness.

Apart from Andrew Liveris, founding members of the initiative also include Libra CEO George Logothetis, Turkish-American Muhtar Kent, CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, renowned Washington lawyer and investment consultant George Stamas and George David, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Coca-Cola Hellenic.

Mr. Liveris had also talked to Greek Reporter about his political ambitions and his wish to get involved with public policy once he is done with the world of business. Watch our interview with Andrew Liveris where he also expresses his view on privatization in Greece:
