Olympiakos Beat Manchester United 2-0 in Champions League

Olympiakos_ManchesterOlympiakos produced a stunning display to beat Manchester United 2-0 on Tuesday for the first-leg game of the Round of 16 of the Champions League and get the upper hand in the tie that has a ticket to the quarterfinals as its prize.
Goals from Alejandro Dominguez and Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell gave Olympiakos victory at a raucous Karaiskakis Stadium, Greece, to leave the Greek champions on the brink of the last eight for the first time since 1999.
It was the first time United had ever lost to a Greek team, but their error-prone display was fully in keeping with a season in which the self-belief of the Alex Ferguson era has thoroughly abandoned them.
The hosts took the lead late in the first half when a deflected shot by Alejandro Dominquez cruelling wrong-footed United goalkeeper David de Gea.
Olympiakos doubled their lead midway through the second half, Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell firing a cracking strike into the corner of the net from long range after nut-megging Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils were unable to pose a genuine threat to Olympiakos, playing second fiddle to their host for the best part of the game, as superstars Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney went absent without a leave.
Therefore it was not a coincidence that the first real chance for the visitors came in the 81st minute, with Van Persie skying it from near the penalty spot.
