Marijuana Confiscated Enroute to Greek Island of Corfu

On Wednesday morning, Albanian authorities confiscated about 463 pounds of marijuana during two different police missions in Saranda and Gjirokastra.

The Albanian polices confiscated about 154 pounds of Marijuana which was being transferred to the Greek island of Corfu on an inflatable boat.

A police spokesman stated that on the boat were two people who when they noticed that they were being followed by the coast guard, threw the bags of marijuana in the sea and managed to escape.

A few minutes later, during another police mission in Gjirokastra, Albanian authorities confiscated about 310 pounds of Marijuana in a vehicle with Greek registration plates. The driver managed to leave the vehicle and escape arrest.

According to the police spokesman, the drugs were destined for Greece’s market.
