Greek athlete Michalis Seitis from the island of Rhodes lost his leg last year in a road accident but he is ready to compete again. Having an artificial limb, the so-called blade special for track and field athletes, he is going to participate in the international competition for athletes with disabilities in Dubai, on February 18 to 25.

After his accident, Seitis first appeared in a sporting event last October, in the Track and Field Games of Chios, Greece. He participated with an artificial limb that wasn’t  approved for track and field events, but he achieved in impressing the audience, the judges as well as the other athletes with his passion, willingness and skills.
The Greek athlete is considered as a worldwide phenomenon as after his serious accident, he soon managed to recover and return to the sport fields. During the last three months Michalis Seitis is in Athens where he is training with his coach, Giorgos Panagiotopoulos, for his participation in Dubai. Seitis believes that in Dubai, competition will be fierce due to the participation of leading athletes with much more experience than him. However, he has stated that the big challenge for him is to compete in the IPC Athletics European Championships, in Swansea, Wales, in August.
