Top Greek-Australian Lawyer, Adviser to the UN

Magda Karagiannakis is a Greek-Australian University Lecturer at the La Trobe University in Melbourne. She is an adviser to the United Nations on legal matters and an interrogator for substantial international cases, occasionally handling major cases such as crimes in the former Yugoslavia as well as the assassination of the former Prime Minister of Lebanon.

She has appeared as an advocate and counsel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) representing the UN in matters related to crimes committed against the former Yugoslavia. Moreover, she investigated the conditions under which the assassination of the former Lebanese Prime Minister took place. She also defended the former President of Liberia who was accused of crimes against humanity.

Mrs. Karagiannakis is expected to be the official speaker at the event organized by the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Indust (HACCI) which will take place on March 5 to honor International Women’s Day.
