Zoe Kazan is ‘The Pretty One’ in New Movie

ZoeKazanThePrettyOneA film starring Zoe Kazan, the granddaughter of late Greek-American filmmaker Elia Kazan, just received a limited release in New York City.

“The Pretty One” centers on a tragedy that presents Laurel (played by Kazan) with the chance to reinvent herself as her idolized twin sister, Audrey (also played by Kazan). As she eases into the life she always wanted, she must decide between continuing the lie or revealing herself as the perfect fraud.

Directed by Jenee LaMarque, the dark comedy also stars Jake Johnson and Ron Livingston. “The Pretty One” premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival and had a theatrical release on February 7, 2014, where it opened at the Village East Cinema.

Kazan, 30, has become an indie darling in the world of cinema. She’s appeared in numerous films, including “I Hate Valentine’s Day,” “It’s Complicated,” and “Ruby Sparks,” a film she wrote which garnered her a Spirit Awards nomination for Best Screenplay in 2013.
