“What do you want to be when you grow up?” The answer changes depending on our age, but when do we actually have to decide what our job will be? How do we make a decision for our career during a period of financial difficulties? Should the decision be made according to what we want or should a choice be made using studies which suggest the professions that will secure a good financial status?
Well, we can’t give you the right answers to the questions above, but we can definitely tell you the best jobs of the future in Greece during the economic crisis.
In the last years our everyday life has changed, it has become more “green.” Therefore, professions associated with renewable energies are very popular. Many job opportunities are available to graduates in economics combined with computer and internet skills, innovative activities and modern agricultural practices. Energy economists have some job opportunities as well. Moreover, the professions of information technology, telecommunication and internet have multidimensional job opportunities with positive medium-long term prospects.
It is a fact that Europe’s population is aging, which means that healthcare services, particularly those associated with the development of new drugs or therapies, and care services for older people, are not expected to face an unemployment problem. The same applies to professions that have to do with psycho-motor problems.
Nanotechnology and biotechnology sectors are also expected to have very good revenues in the future. Nanotechnology scientists are looking for ways to bring natural gas, solar and other alternative energies in our lives, therefore bringing an inflow of continuous development in biotechnology — perhaps not yet in Greece, but certainly in Europe and North America.
Tourism professions are also favored in Greece, since it is one of the most renowned summer destinations. Despite the economic crisis, tourists continue to visit Greece and tourism businesses are looking for the right person to promote their services, usually with quite satisfactory revenues.
In conclusion, tax advisers and accountants have become quite popular lately due to everyday changes on taxation and special contributions among others. Many citizens are consulting them in order to keep up with the changes.
In today’s world and in the future, those who have a good educational level seem to have more chances in finding a good job. However, we should mention that the choice of our profession should be based on what we like and want and not in what we have to do.
