Greek Firefighters Wanted in Australia

The head of the Fire Department in Australia (FRNSW), Greg Mullins, announced that he wants service to be modern and efficient, with the best executive staff on board.

He believes that he can find excellent firemen amongst the Greek Diaspora. The service already employees some expatriates, but he wishes to increase their numbers. Anyone interested can apply here between January 30 and February 13.

The firefighters in Victoria are still battling with flames facing 40 uncontrollable raging fires. Twenty more fires are underway in the South part of Australia.

The situation in North Victoria is rather bad seeing as there are many raging uncontrollable fires underway and authorities have already evacuated several areas.

The situation is expected to worsen as the temperature will probably rise to 44 degrees Celsius in Melbourne (yesterday it was 43.9) and 42 degrees Celsius in Adelaide (yesterday it was 44.2).

Even though people in Australia expect the weather to cool down this evening, the forecast predicts strong winds that are likely to worsen the fire situation.
