The young Greek expat tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis will be playing in the first series of the 2014 Grand Slam Τennis Τournament, the Australian Open, which starts tomorrow (Monday January 13) in Melbourne. Also participating is the Cypriot player Marcos Baghdatis.

The Australian Open has been held every year since 1905. It always takes place in Melbourne during the final 2 weeks of January and is the first of four Gran Slam Tennis Tournaments, along with the French Open also referred to as Rolland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

Unfortunately there will be no Greek entry in the Melbourne Grand Slam after Eleni Daniilidou and Theodoros Angelinos were knocked out.

Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis are friends and won the Wimbledon Boy’s Doubles trophy together in 2013.
