Greek Films to be Presented in Rotterdam Film Festival

Rotterdam film festivalThree Greek films will be participating in the 43rd Rotterdam International Film Festival that will take place from January 22 to February 2, 2014. Spike Jonze’s new film, “Her” will open this year’s festival.

Penny Panagiotopoulos’ “September” will compete in the Bright Future section which presents new film makers. The film — an international co-production of Greece and Germany — has already participated in many festivals. It recounts the life of 30-year-old Anna, an independent woman who lives alone with her dog. When her dog dies, she buries him in the garden of the neighboring house where she will meet the mother of the family. The two women end up developing a strange relationship.

The film “I’m not him” written and directed by Tayfun Pirselimoglou will participate in the Spectrum section. This film is about the life of a 50-year-old lonesome bachelor Nihat, who works in a canteen restaurant . When his young colleague, invites him to dinner, he accepts, starting an affair with her despite rumors that her husband is in prison. When Nihat sees a photograph of her marriage, he realizes that his appearance resembles that of her husband. Their affair will change their lives.

Nikos Kyritsis’ “King Kong” will participate in the short film section. The plot takes place in Athens in 2011. Christos, an introverted 50-year-old man, who still lives with his bedridden mother and works in a zoo, has difficulty forming relationships with people and expressing his sexuality. An unexpected incident will lead him into a path of violence and despair.
