The streets of the island of Rhodes are flooded because of heavy rain on Thursday afternoon. The Fire Department has received numerous calls about flooding and related traffic problems.
The authorities are on full alert, according to local news website rodiaki.gr, while the Police have recommended that drivers limit unnecessary journeys.
Some of the island’s streets were turned into raging torrents, while police have had to stop traffic in many areas. Meanwhile in Koskinou there have been power cuts due to damage of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) network. PPC workers are trying to restore supply but are being hampered by the poor conditions.
